It was, although I took little advantage. At home, doing tax paperwork mostly, and a bit of a snooze in the sun for a while. About all I'm capable of at the moment.

So far, so not-quite-good-but-we'll-wait-and-see. On the plus side, I appear to have not contracted any hideous infections from being in a hospital full of very unwell people. (Guy in room next to me sounded frighteningly bad). On the down side... the promised results aren't *exactly* great. Yet, maybe.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

I'm not actually sure yet what is intended. I gather there's a period where bone graft needs to be stabilised, so "not much" activity is prescribed, varying from 2 - 6, or even to 12 months, depending on who I ask. If it's 12, I'll go insane. Even 6 is likely to have me less than nice to be around.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

Gentle swimming? Surely the orthopaedic surgeon would have given you a time scale and some more detail?seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -

I was a bit of a child tennis prodigy, and general sports fanatic up until my early 30s, competing (seriously) in tennis, hockey, squash, running, triathlon, cycling, golf, and having a go in a few other sports. Had a *major* lumbar disc issue that kept me off everything for almost a year, and was told then that I already had the spine of someone in their 60's, worn out from overuse. Back then the specialist told me this day would come when I needed fusion surgery, just a case of when. Being fit and active is apparently bad for you! I've managed it quite well ever since then, and was doing fine up until bike crash 5 years ago, and fractured vertebra.
My opinion of the medical profession these days is barely above real estate salesmen and lawyers.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -

Glad it hasn't gone wrong at least, hope you do end up with the best possible outcome. Hospitals are horrible places, when I was on chemo they tried to keep me in a couple of times when my stats looked bad, I refused as I was better off at home away from sick people and lived near enough that I could see the hospital so could come in if things went awry.
So by the sound of it "live fast, die young" was a recommendation to avoid the consequences of living life to the full then.0 -

My view is far too many of the medical lot have not progressed beyond thinking their patients are just lab rats to experiment on, except now they'll charge enormous fees for the "privilege". Many of them are entirely lacking in social skills, and automatically assume you're barely literate and should be addressed in terms the average 10 year old would find condescending. It has to be a tough job I am sure, dealing with people at their lowest ebb day in and day out, but FFS some of them are just in the wrong job altogether.Open One+ BMC TE29 Seven 622SL On One Scandal Cervelo RS0 -
