Hi all

apologises as this is a proper novice question. I am trying to fit new grips to my Carrera Vulcan. The ones that came with it have won down, I went for some fetching Gusset File Handlebar grips as they were on sale and I like to keep the spending as small as possible. However whilst I have got the grips themselves on fine, i can't seem to fit the little end cap that comes with them. Is there a trick to this? It just won't fit into the hole on the end of the bar, or am I am doing something wrong?

Failing that is there some kind of generic end cap that I could get as the gap is already bothering me just knowing it's there!

There's a screw on the bar end, this tightens/loosens an expander which keeps the bar end in. Have you undone the screw?
  • Yeah, even at it's slackest position it felt too big. Although I think it was just incredibly tight as I got one side in by force and use a mallet on the other...

Cheaper bars are thicker, no unusual for them to need some persuading in!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • Cheers all. Had a feeling it might be a parts quality issue!

Going to go for a ride now to give them a test so hopefully it all goes okay! Don't want to make a new thread for this but is there anything else I could change on the bike that wouldn't cost me an insane amount? Been looking at pedals, although more to make it look snazzier than knowing anything about performance!
