Giant Anthem BB options - not GXP

I need to replace the crankset on my 2013 Anthem, which is currently running a GXP BB. If I move away from GXP it opens up a number of options. So what BB formats can I run in the Anthem, presumably with an adaptor?

Pretty much anything, pick the crank you want, there'll be a BB for it. Your anthem will just be a standard 68/73mm threaded, so long as you don't buy fatbike cranks or DH cranks, you can use whatever you want.

I thought the 2013 Anthems all had press-fit bottom brackets.
Has your's been changed previously and the Bob threaded or had inserts fitted?

… aha… this is where I'm getting confused by my options… you're right, the BB shell is a pressfit (nominally 89.5mm wide and 40.8mm diameter), and the crank is a GXP… so does the press fit shell open up options? I'm considering an FSA MegaExo from CRC's sale, it's old but takes a fair bit of weight out of the bike… or heading 1x11… but let's not head down the crank option discussion just yet :-) … Is there a pressfit standard for most of the crank manufacturers??

Yes and no, there are different pressfit standards although many are cross compatible although sometimes adaptors are needed (Hope cover most options).

Anthem's have a ridge inside the BB shell so you can't use the Hope products - it only needs a few mm shaved off the BB bearing housing but Hope said it would reduce the strength and wouldn't do it.
