Frame and component colours

I got a new bike several weeks ago and after a few hundred miles have decided the stock saddle isn't for me and am looking for a replacement. My LBS is currently selling off some old fizik stock at £35. They have one in a similar shape to what usually works for me, but it is from the horrible highlighter range they did and the fluorescent yellow scuff guards will clash terribly with the red frame.

Should I be this concerned with the aesthetics my bike or should I just get over it and grab a potential bargain.

You should be concerned with every tiny detail of your bike. Even mismatched bottle cage bolts are offensive.
  • Everything on your bike has to match.

All of your clothing has to match.

Well obviously i got matching bottle cages when I picked up the bike.
  • No good. You might save a few quid but it'll keep you awake at night  Looking at the bike needs to be almost as pleasurable as riding it :D

no one will see it when you are sitting on it
my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny

That's what my wife said, so that has to be wrong.
  • You also need to move clubs if their kit doesn't match your new bike. It's their fault for not being more flexible. Your new bike is 500g lighter which is much more important than getting 400 members to buy new jerseys.
  • It's not so bad.

And that's just because of the humongous bag. Cat hasn't even noticed the saddle yet.

    That does look pretty special.

I have a Fizik with a blue stripe if you prefer to clash blue with red instead? :D

You could potentially tie that in with some yellow bottle cages I guess.....

I have a white/red used San Marco lying around I'd rather give you for free than see such a mistake be made.

I beg of you to either put a plain black saddle on or one with red bits too.

The above recommendation of YELLOW bottle cages might actually make the mix work well though.

    Moving house with that suitcase?
  • Now I have no idea what to fix first, the saddle or the bag.

Bag. Get a bottle cage tool thing if you must.

Get your misses to reupholster your saddle in matching colours

    Yes, the bag first.
Saddle is a Crime Against Style, but those can be absolved with a few Hail Wiggles, or Bless Me, CRC's.

The bag is a Crime Against Humanity, for which forgiveness is near impossible. :)

Black marker pen for short term fix on the saddle colour?
  • I like to get things matching, others don't - either's fine, just do what you prefer!
