Best MTB for £250 ish ???

Can anyone point me in the direction of the best mtb with a budget of £250 ish

primarily to lose weight sitting at about 19 st atm so that will probably factor in.

currently looking at this which is a bit over budget

    Basically, it's a rigid fork mountain bike, cracking value at the mo.

    What sort of riding do you envisage doing?

    Just on your budget is also the Rockrider 520 from Decathlon, but at that lower price the Vulcan is a good buy and a better bike than the 520.

    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    it will be mainly canal riding/pavements just to try lose some weight. Wont be any jumps or anything

    Hopefully by pavements you don't mean illegally on footways!

    The Vulcan has a damped fork which makes it much better for rougher roads (nothing to do with jumps!), but for your stated usage the lack of damping won't be an issue.
