    His road riding mostly before I was born... Sounds a cool guy, would be interesting to see what he would have done if he had been that age today - sounds like he could have been a good classics guy.

    Get hold of a copy of 'Wide Eyed and Legless' by Jeff Connor. It's astonishing, especially when you think of the pro scene now.

    Easy to forget that until relatively recently nearly all the UK talent never made it to the top level, the ones who did must have been pretty special in terms of their psychology and probably had a bit of luck too.
