Trek Marlin 5 2016 vs Cannondale Trail 6 2016

I really like the looks of the Cannondale but is it worth the extra £100? (Trek is currently £300 In Evans - Cannonade is £400). Rides will mostly be park-based with kids so no ambitious trail riding here.

Help for a beginner much appreciated!

The Trek is truly horrible, useless heavey undamped fork, 7 speed freewheel.
The Canondale is marginally better.

You'd do much better at the price from Go Outdoors, Halfords or Decathlon.

Agree with CD here, both are shockingly awful overpriced cynical marketing tat, they are selling on name and a pretty paint job rather than as a bike you would actually enjoy riding.

Its certainly much better value that the Trek or 'dale. The 540 though (while a fair bit pricier) is a much more capable bike.
