Hi

I've got a 08 bianchi 928 carbon frame. I recently had an issue getting my alloy seatpost out of the frame, and wiggled it perhaps a bit too hard (the seatpost had fused to the alloy frame insert) and in doing so i've broken away the insert from the frame in a small area, about 15% of the circumference. I need to know how i can or where i can take the bike to have the alloy insert rebonded to the carbon frame. I live in Wilts but commute to Bristol/Bath. Does anyone know of a reputable bike shop or carbon expert that can offer such facility?

Thanks.

Tricky as epoxy is quite thick and difficult to 'wick' into a narrow gap - suggest you ask some of the repair specialists but you might have to live with it. Make sure you try and keep the water out as it will create corrosion which could make it worse.

I've just had a closer look after receiving advise on how to re bond the insert. The insert is cracked around the area its external to the carbon, 60% of the way around, removing just the insert with this little purchase i think is going to be impossible :(.

if you look inside the insert you can see a little hairline crack..

You could probably put a sleeve inside the seattube (long seatpost shim) and use a smaller diameter post, but you really need the sleeve to extend past the toptube junction to be structurally sound.
