Budget £200-£250 Mtb-Hardtail

Hi guys,
im new to this forum and hope you guys can help me.
I'm looking to buy a bike but limited budget.
Was thinking to get one from gumtree second handed or buy a new one?
The use will be commuting to work, cross country and general trail riding, i like jumps and going through stairs.

Giant might be ok, but it's a bit old - Dart 2s are not great forks.
The other thing looks like a BSO monstrosity. Never heard of the make, but no name brand forks, deep section rims, bar ends, and worst of all, a stand, suggests it's having a bit of an identity crisis.

They are also toatlly different sizes. You need to slow down and do some homework first, I think.

Neither detail specs, and it's impossible to judge condition from some pictures.

Tough budget. I'd cut out beer and food for a week or two and get the 540

Why don't you go for the voodoo bantu from Halfords. It's meant to be ok for the £320 they are asking for. Then. It the Halfords vouchers online will bring the bike down to £280ish.

A tad more than your wanting to spend but should give you everything you need. Shocks are ok and had hydraulic brakes.
