Go down Judd St and on to the segregated lane on Tavistock Place, then follow the cycle path all the way to Gower St, left there and follow the road round to Cambridge Circus. Down Shaftesbury Avenue and Haymarket then left into Lower Regent St.

    Takes about 15 mins max.

Yeah, it's not a quiet route after about 8,30. Worse in the afternoon with all the tourists. It's still better than the Soho side streets though!

If you aren't a fan of the Midland Rd -> Judd Street crossing over the A501 then I generally think the Pancreas Rd -> Belgrove St crossing feels a little safer. You still work your way south to Tavistock Pl/St just via a few windy small streets.

Shaftesbury Ave is generally OK because traffic speeds are quite low so you can ride defensively in the middle of the lane with no issues. This also helps you avoid peds stepping into the street without looking.
