Recommend me some tyres

I've used Conti GP 4000S II tyres for the last 4 years with only 2 punctures but for the last few months I'm constantly getting slashes in the tyre wall with the inner tube poking through - so I'm having to change them frequently.

I'm looking for recommendations for a new tyre to try.

    Is this just happening spontaneously (in which case, take them back) - or is something external causing it? In which case, changing tyre brands might not be the answer. Conti GP4Ks are generally pretty robust, so short of suggesting Schwalbe marathons or something, it might be an idea to look at why this is happening.
