Morning all
Now the Tranny is dialed in im turning my attention to a new build. Been toying with a hardtail build for a while. I want/need something for general mooching and taking the kids out riding. Had Pikes from the Tranny so decided to go down the "aggressive" route.
Large in petrol
All parts ordered and on way
Build overview
2014 RS Pike RCT3 160mm
Renthal cockpit
SLX drivetrain with an XT shifter
SLX brakes
Reverb
Switch hubs on Stans Arch EX
Ardents front and back
More pics to follow once i start building

doesn't really fit in with the build thats all but then if thats all the grip/protection you need no point going for somthing heavier and more aggressive.0

I've always run Ardents in the summer
I am a confessed Maxxis fanboy, so i only really run either Minions or Ardents
As the season changes, ill swap out the Ardent on the front for a Minion, and then change to dual Minions in the winter
I'm running Ardents on the Tranny right now - 2.25 on the back and 2.4 on the front
The 2.4 probably isn't quite 2.4 in terms of size, but in terms of grip, they are as good as a 2.25 Minion IMO. maybe a bit better, and on the Flow rim, you got a good wide profile
Im toying with using the 2.4 all year to see how they handle the winter months
With the EXO casing and some DH tubes they can take a beating0 -
I've got a baron projek on the front and a slaugher on the rear of my trannie at the mo.0

Looks a nice frame think I'll be getting a black frame if its in stock/available.
what size is the rear 142x12mm? I should be able to convert my hope wheel to fit, was thinking of using the mounting for front mech cable to hold a dropper post cable unless they have a stealth routing option.0 -

There is a hole in the seat tube that looks like it could be used for a stealth dropper, but then nothing to hold the hose on the downtube. I've gone for non-stealth. Cheaper.
Rear spacing is 135x12
Slam69 have all colours and sizes0 -

this is what some people have done with the stealth to route it up to the top tube or used stick on guides

Pretty much done
No back brake just now. Thought I had a 180m adaptor but apparently not. Also the LG1 chain guide didn't fit so a One Up is on the way from CRC with the brake adaptor.
Getting the tyres on Arch rims was a ball ache
Had to swap stems with the Tranny, think for the better of both bikes.
Quick mooch round the block was good. Despite having quite a long TT, it feels way more compact than the Tranny.0 -
my hornet and suppressor have the same reach but the hornet seems longer even though its got a shorter stem0

Looking good, I shall be ordering in next few weeks, everything I have on another bike will transfer over just need a few bits, wheel adapters and gear cable outer as I see it uses a full run.
I see 18" size is listed as large n not medium?0 -
Looks great . Bet its a blast to ride, my hornet4x isViner
