Superstar Pave Tubs

Is anyone using Superstar Pave Tubs for CX racing? Choice of both budget friendly and alu tubs is somewhat limited nowadays. Want to get another set before the new season, I was tempted to get another set of handbuilt Mavic Reflex but these are cheaper, wider, lighter and have a round (rather than box section) inner rim which should make gluing a lot easier. My other option would be getting a cheap set of Carbonzone or similar tubs, but after doing a few races on carbon last year I prefer the braking on alu and I seem to chew through pads quite quickly on carbon rims.

I'm going to get a set when my oldest muds set expires. This might be next week as my annual pre-season wheel inspection is scheduled for then :)

They look good and the price is great.

When you say Carbonzone, do you mean generic Chinese? I'd point you at Far Sports as they are a manufacturer, Carbonzone is a re-seller, and the quality is variable.

I have a number of Far Sports sets, but have now gone back to gluing muds on alloy and only use my carbon wheels for intermediates and file treads. It's an economy/braking decision.

I'm in the same boat. I've actually got a set of 'Carbonzone' tubs with my Griffos on which I'll probably use for 2/3rds of the season anyway depending on conditions, to be fair I've been very happy with them. I'm not a confident enough bike handler to go down to file treads, and from past seasons only a couple of courses are hard enough to not need at least an intermediate tyre. I just picked Carbonzone as they seem to be the biggest supplier of generic Chinese stuff on Ebay and I've used them before, could have been any of the various Ebay sellers. I was looking for new alu tubs for my mud tyres and at £200 seem a good deal.
