Double or sing bar tape.

Just changed my handlebars today on my road bike usually I double wrap my bar tape but I've decided to single wrap it for a change.
Handle bars now feel really skinny and bare but thinking of sticking with it.
What do you find works best for you I do normally where padded gloves when cycling so I've got some comfort from them.

single wrap (and no gloves/mitts)
I've never really been tempted to try double-wrapping but suppose my hands are on the smaller side of average.0 -
Double wrap seems a bit pointless. Just let a few psi out of your tyres for the same effect0

I use the Specialized Bar Phat gel pads underneath the bar tape which gives a similar effect but with less of the bulk in areas that you don't want it (e.g.around the shifters).
I'm thinking about ditching them though and seeing how it goes just with some standard tape.0 -
Double wrapped sandpaper and no mitts. Prevents slippage.Giant TCR Advanced II - Reviewed on my homepage

Surely there are thick, padded options so you can get the effect of double wrapping with a single wrap.0

Bar gel and single wrap. I prefer the feel of wider bars and don't like gloves with padding in them so it's a win win.0
-
Single, with the Cinelli or specialized inserts underneath if you want the padding. Double wrapped just looks weird IMO0

Heard alot of good things about the specialized bar phat tape.0

Single wrap but with gel underneath.
Done because I have fairly big hands and find it more comfortable.
Also rarely wear gloves as hate my hands getting too hot. So this is a good compromise.
Also find gloves with padding uncomfortable a stop bulky. Even with single wrapped bars.2015 Specialized S-Works Tarmac - Ultegra Di2 (7.0kg)

Single layer with this underneath.

I like double, but I have huge hands. I'm not sure it makes any difference to vibration etc, just gives me a better grip.0

OP, most people don't double wrap tape. That's the answer. Past that, you'll only hear personal preference, make up your own mind.0

I have double tape on my bianchi, I have small hands and like the feel of something thicker (no naughty comments )0

I have double wrap on the bar top as far as the shifters purely because the Pro PLT bars I have are rather skinny and I found them uncomfortable with a single wrap so removed the tape and just used the old tape underneath.0
-
I prefer a double wrap as I have nerve damage to my hand after a cycling accident. Whilst recovering I found it easier to grip a thicker bar. I also prefer thinner, less padded gloves. I find padded, very grippy gloves gives me finger "wedgies" and that's uncomfortable.
Each to their own though.Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

I wrapped mine over a layer of inner tube. I'm almost ashamed to admit that.0
