Going to order hydraulic disc calipers and Sti.

Can anyone advise what else I need to order for a new install? Is there a particular bleed kit I need for instance? do I need any particular tools ?

Also, I see there isn't a huge difference in price between Shimano ST-RS505 and ST-RS685 which would be best performing and would the install be basically the same?

Thanks

One is quite quite ugly. The other is not. That should guide you!

I've just fitted the 685's and they're pretty simple, the only problem I now have is the rubber hood cover keeps coming off.

There is a small bleed pipe & bag in the box with the brakes.

You'll need this funnel - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... -prod34710 and decent cable/hose cutters are the only special bits you'll need.

The rubber hood issue is common so if you have this issue buy a new set they cost a tenner. The stis and brakes are awsome and easy to fit if you take your time and do your homework and a standard bleed kit and filling funnel is all you need. As an aside I am likely going to strip my Caad and this has the 685 kit fitted so will be for sale.

    Common after the first ride?

    homers double :

Just watched a video that shows the system comes with a Joining system https://vimeo.com/85855556

Was your brake hose like that ? I am wondering how that works out with internal frame routing? I was planning on feeding the hydraulic hose through the frame OVER the old brake cables before removing the old cables. Is this possible with this J joint? I 've never worked on hydraulic bike brakes but am experienced at cycle mechanics and also would have experience on car brakes

    thanks
