On Friday I'll be solo cycling around the TT course on the Isle of Man. Booked a hired road bike from Erin Bike Hut.
Any tips?

Thanks. I've been on that site. Shame they have nothing on cycling on it, though when I put cycling in their search box there are several links to other sites that are helpful! Cheers.0

Are you heading into Douglas to start from the Grandstand, or just riding to St Johns and do a lap there and head back? Do you want to do more climbing or not?0

From St John's. I'm the slowest cyclist in the universe so it's enough for a day's ride to go from Port Erin to St Johns - TT course to St John's then back to Douglas where Mrs N might have finished her day's hike / shop. On Saturday I'll go down Marine Drive as a diversion back to Port Erin.0

That sounds good. There is just the route to St Johns. The easiest way would be through Colby and up Ballamodha straight (The A3). This is just a long, but gentle climb, nice and wide an not busy.
A tougher route would be to go up Colby Glen road (A27) then right at the cross roads at the top to Foxdale and down.
The toughest route being up via the Sloc (A36), on to Foxdale and down to St Johns.
Both of these routes will be scenic, with good views from the hills, but it does just depend on how hard you want to make the ride.0 -

Thinking about it, I would say the Colby Glen Road would probably be the best way to go. It is not a tough climb (not as bad as on the TT course out of Ramsey), and you get to see the open land over the southern hills.0

Ok, will go for that one. Cheers.0
