Peak District routes with fewest gates/fences etc.

Hi all, my first post...

I've not been on many rides in the Peak District even though it's on my door step but I recall the last time I went for a bit of a circuit around Lady Bower there were so many gates etc. to go through that I found I'd be on and off the bike every few minutes which is really annoying!

Does anyone know of any routes that have long sustained periods of on-bike time?

Many thanks

Elliot

Tissington Trail from Ashbourne to the end, cut across on pennine bridal way then down to monsal trail at Blackwell then follow to bakewell, return via same route. Approx 64 miles roughly about 6 gates on pennine bridal way. Boring in places but some stunning views. One bit of pennine bridal way is brutal uphill on way back for short distance. Killed my overweight, big mouthed brother on it a month ago.
Too many bikes according to Mrs O.

Those routes marry up nicely. Just watch out for random guests.
I am the Orange stereotype and loving it.
  • Cheers! Not sure I'm quite ready for a 64m ride! I've got a full susser I was thinking of more.... single tracky kind of routes I think... But cheers anyway I'll bear it in mind if I get something lighter one day.

To be fair I did it on my Anthem, the best bit is the middle bit. Have a look at peak pedallers rides, I believe he posts under gorrila in the peaks. He's a local lad to the peaks so hopefully he can advise. Quite a few routes around castleton and edale I.E. hope valley area. As to the long ride, it's easy enough if you take your time. Managed to get my lardy added brother around it, hopefully the route will be extended soon to matlock.
