I have bent my brake lever a fair bit and was wondering how to remove it. I tried unscrewing the hex screw but that's just a long screw with a ball on the end. How do you remove the big jagged looking screw through the centre?

I believe these are the parts

The bolt you fiddled with is the reach adjust.
Can you get just a lever?
Otherwise just straighten it and file it smooth.

  • I think you can order just the levers. I now seem to be leaking fluid I have no idea where from though

  • Hello ratchetclan4,

I'm DB1 product manufacturing developer, maybe I could help you out.

Step 1 : use something to clamp the lever body
step 2 : use a block to hold lever blade internal feature
step 3 : take out of guide pin

step 4 : disassemble lever blade

owing to you find the maintenance kits is not including the pushrod (http://www.probikeshop.com/en/gb/avid-d%20...%2020794.html)
So, you should take pushrod off from your existing lever blade assembly. and reassemble to new lever blade assembly.

step 5 : install lever blade assembly into lever body, make sure pushrod have install to correct position. (if correct, you will feel a clip feeling.)

Remind : please make sure the brake caliper have press a block between pad or piston due to preventing leaking.

refer step 1 to 3 to install guide pin

final step : adjust the pushrod to get best braking hand feeling.

If anything unclear please let me know. I could explain more details to you.
