In the light of the excitement generated by Stage 12, when 3 of the riders crashed into a motorbike on Mont Ventoux due to crowd encroachment on the narrow road, the race organisers have proposed making some changes for next year's tour to spice up the long, dull stages.

Early suggestions include:

1. Pitfall traps:

On selected stages, holes will be dug in the road and then covered with grey felt. Unlucky riders will have the chance to be impaled on the spikes below.
A special Apache foot trap will be employed in any race where Chris Froome is competing:

2. Cranes:

During the last 300m of the stage, cranes equipped with wrecking balls will be positioned by the side of the road in order to dislodge any rider who appears to have gained an advantage due to superior riding skills.

3. Panther:

On the Queen Stage a hungry trained panther will be released. The panther has been trained to target thin men wearing brightly coloured Lycra clothing.

4. Champs Elysee

This will be resurfaced to favour the heavy roulers:

5. Collapsible flame rouge arch - oh, wait, that one's already been done...

This should appeal to those people who found yesterday's spectacle an enjoyable part of the bicycle racing.

Team Sky have already announced the purchase of an A-10 Warthog for 'path clearing' duties.

'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP
