Garmin 810 Nav issues

Wondering if anyone on here has had similar issues and knows a solution...
My garmin recently whilst using the map screen and following the track, the highlighted, coloured track suddenly disappears. This is obviously quite frustrating. But, the home button isn't there either so you can't just open the course again. You have to stop the ride and start fresh again, which is annoying as you have multiple activity files and have issues if you're using live track. Everything else seems to work as normal, just that the highlighted bit of road isn't there anymore.

Yes, you can restart the course. You can touch the normal data screens to get a menu of options (eg for re-synchronising sensors) and restart the route.
Mind you, weird things are definitely happening with my 810. Switch off with ride lost just by touching the screen and the other day, only the contours displayed on the base map......Faster than a tent.......0 -

AH, cool. Thanks, i'll check this out next time. Hopefully, this works as i'm relying on it for a hundred miles of otherwise un-navigable country lanes through the cotswolds to get to Bristol next weekend.http://www.KOWONO.com - Design-Led home furniture and accessories.0 -

Garmin are obviously playing with the firmware platform again. Why do they insist on using the same platform for the 520 and cock everything up for the 510 and 810. if they have to to keep costs down, then test the thing first before unleashing it on the buying public.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -

Hi Rolf F
Went for a ride yesterday, and although the issue didn't occur, I couldnb't find the option you say to restart the route. Any chance you could be a little more specific?
It would be very much appreciated!http://www.KOWONO.com - Design-Led home furniture and accessories.0 -

I'm terrible at this sort of thing - unless the object is in front of me I can never remember what I actually do  . But the gist of it is (keeping it simple) that if you are in the 1st screen (probably the one you have the basic speed, distance info in), then you should find if you tap the bottom of the screen a small menu appears. It gives you access to the tools menus, the sensors as I mentioned before and, also, in the middle access to navigation menus. It's pretty neat as you can, for example, use this menu to select the nearest bike shop or food shop and navigate to it. It also gives access to the course menu. If I have problems with the course I usually stop the course and restart it (obviously avoiding navigate to the beginning option).
Easiest to experiment at home with this rather than spending long enough on the road staring at the Garmin to either crash into a parked car or be mistaken for Chris Froome!Faster than a tent.......0 -

Hi Rolf, Thanks very much. It's the magnifying glass! I haven't clicked that since I first got it and always think it's to do with searching (which it is). I was clicking on the setttings symbol (spanner) and going through those menus.
Hopefully i'll remember now! Many thanks.http://www.KOWONO.com - Design-Led home furniture and accessories.0
