So here we go. The 'start' of the race as some would have it.

We hit the first proper lumpy stuff today but forego a MTF

Did Aspin last week. To be fair not with 6.5 days in my legs. Lovely ride looking forward to recognising it on the telly.

Covered a lot of tomorrows route too....

I have a photo of me somewhere at the top of the Aspin, surrounded by cows. It's a popular bovine destination.

All the cols in the Pyrennes have cows. I have one from the Col de Paillères. Little b*ggers chewed a hole in my glove.

I saw a purple cow on the Pailleres. I wasn't hallucinating. I didn't have a camera on me though, so no photographic evidence.
  • I love that Tomme - with some rock heated tomatoes and red onion mmmmm

The race started last Saturday - Nibali and Contador already know that

    ......and anyone with heavy legs

    Well done ATC!

In my haste to leave the house this morning I completely forgot about the race. Think I'm getting old

I didn't know Jeremy Corbyn was riding the Tour? At least he has momentum.

I'm trying to do some work but I have nasty road rash and hurty clavicles and can't concentrate on serious stuff.

Anyway here I am with my new friend Marcel

Better fitting skinsuit than Cav's green number!

Is that just taking the green jersey for a spin before an abandon?

If he's in the break to go for the intermediate sprint, then he must be serious about going all the way to Paris.

Would seem that way, though I imagined the green was beyond him anyway.

Unless he just wants a head start for the climb at the end. Take it slow, get caught by the peloton, hang on a bit, drop off with the gruppetto.

Sprinters trying to get a bit of a gap so they can take the climb a bit easier?

France 3 now live with 118kms to go, so another long day in the saddle.

Sagan and Cav have slowed apparently and they're almost back in the peloton.

There aren't that many stages that are obviously Sagan ones, so it seems Cavendish has a chance. Plus Sagan doesn't have a whole team to be used to drop Cavendish..

Aye, they'll just drop Contador instead.

Around thirty riders in the break. All teams represented except Tinkoff & FdJ. I think this should stick.
