I'm just getting back Into mountain biking and I'm wanting to replace the Ford on my old giant terrago, I'm not wanting to spend a fourtune as I'm planning on changing it in a year or so or is it a cheaper option to upgrade the bike?
What forks will fit my bike and improve the handling without breaking the bank?

Depends what's on there now.
The travel.
The steerer size.
Type of brakes.
Your budget.
As they started making them in the 1990's 'old' is a bit vague.I don't do smileys.

Ok sorry mate still new to this, it's a 2009 model with the mph discs on it0

Assuming Suntour XCM, anything not Suntour XCM will likely be a step up.
I would look for Rockshox Recon or Suntour Epicon/Raidon/Epixcon. Depends whether you want to spend the value of the bike on forks.I don't do smileys.

I have the same bike well 06 which I use a commuter/towpath wanderer now. has the fork failed, or starting to go? if not may be worth holding fire for a while, what sort of riding do you do?
I find tyres to be the most cost effective upgrade one can do.0 -
Forks have failed. Not working and are seizing0

For a bike that age I'd be looking at second hand RS Rebas . Available for less than £100 via eBay or a wanted ad here/single track world forum.2006 Giant XTC
2010 Giant Defy Advanced
2016 Boardman Pro 29er
2016 Pinnacle Lithium 4
