Hey all, I've ordered the norco storm 7.1 to view at evans cycles as they only had one in the whole country in size large but I'm starting to have second thoughts, I've done a little a bit of browsing and have my heart set on 2 other bikes norco charger 7.3 and trek marlin 7 2017, which out of the 2 is better? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Look forward to your suggestions

The Norco is marginally better than the Trek but you can do a lot better for your money at Halfords or Decathlon.

Thanks for the reply, I really like the look of the bikes mentioned, but I've found this at the same price, what do you think?

The Decathlon is a whole load better than the Norco or Trek.

So the rafal 700 has better specs?

No comparison really. At the original price it was a good deal, at the discounted price it would be stupid not to.

2x10, with a clutch mech says it was specced by someone who actually rides, SLX clutch instead of flashing it up with a standard XT.

Having owned this bike for 7 months, I am still slightly disappointed as it is just missing something.
The bike looks the biz & rides well but could benefit from a high gear ratio, it only has 21 gears whereas my previous was 28 gear and this made the ride slightly more testing on the legs (provided by my mum & dad). The change of the suspension quick change should be as the previous model which was only a flick of a button whereas the new R700 has a grip shift system, that I find does not work so well. I would love to recommend if there was that extra gear change & suspension change, but it could just be me!! I am saying I would recommend but there is no entry to say if you are in between the yes or no with reference recommendations.

Mum and dad should have sent him to a school that teaches counting, or logic, not sure which. 21 speed haha.

Or his old 28 speed...4x7 perhaps?

    Grip shift for suspension?

  • I'm so late here I know but I just wanted to clear the air a bit with the Norco Charger and Marlin 7. The person below you who stated that the differences between both the Charger and Marlin as only being "marginal" clearly does not know what they're talking about.

First of all the Charger and Marlin aren't even in the same category as far as price and the quality of parts are concerned. The Charger is comparable to Trek's X-Caliber while the Marlin is comparable to Norco's Storm line while. I've posted a few links below to prove this point.
