Hi Guys

A local mechanic has given my 2 year old Boardman MX Sport a look over today and mentioned I'll need the following replaced soon:

Rear Cassette
Bottom Bracket
2 of the 3 chainrings

Problem is, I'm clueless when it comes to parts. He's said if I buy the parts in he'll fit them for me, but I've no idea what parts are compatible.

I've spent the last hour googling but am still non the wiser really

From the specs on the Halfords site I'm confident enough buying the rear cassette, but was wondering if some kind soul could give me some help finding stuff thats compatible from the likes of CRC or Wiggle regarding the bottom bracket and chain-rings?

Full specs are here http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/end-of-line-bikes/boardman-mx-sport-bike-2014 but it doesn't make mention of the bottom bracket specs

The crankset is an MTB one with trecking rings, the two outer rings are 104mm BCD, the inner is 64mm BCD (you don't say which of the two chainrings you want).

The outer ring has a trouser guard mounted which reduces your options if you want to keep that?

Bottom bracket is square taper and I'd suggest a Shimano UN53 as replacement, unfortunately SRAM don't seem to have any technical support online for that crankset so you'll have to measure the axle width and then buy the same. If you go into a Halfords then they may be able to tell you the required width.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

I will bet my life the BB is fine. Those BB's will last for 10,000s of miles before they go.

Did he show you reason those are worn?

Does the BB spin freely? Does the crank wobble (BB axle wobbling) Are the chain rings bent/worn? What about the cassette? Are the teeth sharktooted?

Also I doubt you have worn the chainrings out not unless you do very high milage. They should last several cassettes worth.
    Say... That's a nice bike..
