Was out on a little jolly yesterday and just knuckled down into a head wind, road is about 4 miles long and as straight as an arrow (its horrible). About half way is my turning, so roughly 2 miles.
Head down, and just pushed it out. Wasn't fast by any means of the imagination.
As I get to my turning, hand out, slow it down and turn off left. I hear someone shout out "ahhhh W**kerrrrrrr" while giving me the hand signal at the same time as they continue on the road I had just been on.
I managed to see them pedal off on a blue and white Giant.

I don't mind they tailed me for a 2 mile head wind, however a hello wouldn't have gone a miss.
I don't mind they shouted abuse at me (in fairness I sometimes can be a w**ker)
I don't even mind they carried on their journey thinking they have got one over on me.

Now it would appear this person isn't so smart after all, they have just uploaded their ride onto Strava. I now know their full name, where they live, and a little more digging as to what club they cycle for and also that they are on facebook with an unlocked profile.

Simple mater is, be careful who you shout abuse at. The world is an ugly place, and should I have been a w**nker id probably have made contact with them by now and let them know.

    Bizarre.

Where they a 'proper' cyclist ?

Maybe he was a chav and forgot he wasn't actually in his Corsa ?

I had a little chuckle and carried on.

he seemed it, had all the gear on, and his Strava tells me he has done about 1100 miles this year.

I think I'd have gone back to ask what he said. Maybe he was just downhearted that he didn't have a tow all the way down the road. I could imagine someone saying something similar - but not actually calling you names.

I have had this before from drivers but never from another cyclist...that is unbelievable. What exactly did he think you had done wrong to warrant this abuse? As for hunting him down like a dog on the net, I'd resist, what would be the point, he already seems an unstable character and will be creating his own private wave of hassle as he goes.

    1100 miles, that's not a 'proper' cyclist.

Maybe he just did a bad gear change to compensate for the lack of tow and was talking to himself.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Do you mean you've possibly came across only one bad cyclist. While theres plenty of other cyclists in Lincolnshire who are decent and polite.
    had all the gear on

I agree, although I didn't really hunt him down. His name was on Strava, typed it into facebook and his profile came up. I left it at that.

I don't care how crazy you are to talk to yourself, but surely he wouldn't have given himself the hand gesture as well?

Oh and you can buy what you like with your own money, seems a very argumentative response. don't happen to have a blue and white giant by any chance?

I wouldn't have been able to resist changing his status to 'drafting like a w*nker'.

You should have posted your comments on the "seemingly trivial things" thread on the cake stop page.

No I don't own a blue and white Giant

I do apologise Ben, how silly of me to include a bike/cycling related post in 'Road General' where the tag line is 'General bike chat that does not fit elsewhere' rather than 'The Cake Stop' where the tag line is 'The place for more serious off topic questions, light hearted banter and friendly chat.'

But do correct me if am wrong in saying; that me out on my bike, having an incident on my bike with another cyclist is more general cycling related to an off topic question or light hearted banter.

Its ok though, I do accept your apology for being argumentative for no reason. I'm a forgiving kinda guy.

May I presume that you forgive the other cyclist?

I did, as mentioned I could have cycled back to question what he said. I didn't, I laughed it off and carried on my cycle.

As mentioned also, I have admitted I can sometimes be a w**ker anyway. :D

That is simply not retaliating, and an admission. Not quite forgiveness.

Well there you go - he was the stronger rider (maybe) and yet he was happy to sit behind you and not contribute. If he'd been weaker then insulting you for leaving him to face the wind on his own would at least have some logic to it!
