Has anyone on here done Coast to Coast in a day? It sounds like an insane challenge, but how were the logistics?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I've done one. It all depends which country you're talking about though....

Do it in Scotland and its easy if you pick the right route.

Logistics seem fine so far - 4 of us are riding it next year and are hopefully making it easier by using their transfers. Meet in Penrith Friday evening, bus to Seascale where we've got a guest house booked. Ride Saturday leaving the organisers to transport our bike boxes to Whitby, then a hotel / b&b there. Bus back to Penrith on Sunday.

There's a camping option at Seascale / Whitby (tent goes with your bike box) and all bikes etc can be assembled and left in the school sports hall. I'm sure the logistics will be fine. Looking forward to it so much now even 11 months away. We're doing LEJOG in May as "training"

I did C2C Whithaven to Sunderland a couple of years ago with my son, on mtb's (with slicks), mainly road but a few off road bits.
Also did way of roses last year with my club (raising money for cancer charities).
Both were fantastic days out. With favourable conditions these are easily achievable with good preparation.

My missus did that last year as well. Great ride by all accounts. It's what got her into cycling. She didn't have a bike until she signed up for it! Made it to the seafront just before the sun went down.
  • Hi. I did it in 2015 and did a write up on my blog......

Hardknott AND Wrynose... not to be underestimated... after Hardknott you get a bit more of the same medicine up Wrynose. Good brakes and nerves of steel are essential coming down those two, the gradients are mental

I've done Way of the Roses in a day a few years ago, Morecambe > Bridlington.

  • Every year I think this is the year that I'm going to do it, but never happens either due to injury or logistics just being too complicated.

But Whitehaven -> Sunderland is 135 miles which a long days ride but not ridiculous. The main issue is transport to the start etc.
