Transport from Briancon, Alps

Hi All
4 of us are staying in briancon in the French alps and are aiming to cycle over Galibier from Saint Michel de maurienne.
However! Fitness and time dictates we need transport from Briancon to Saint michel de maurienne (about 77k).
Has anyone made this journey before?
I'm thinking a local man/van, bike taxi etc.
We need to get 4 adults and 4 bikes transported.
Our bike hire shop are worse than useless and no help....
Thanks

Why do you need transport? Just to both sides from Briancon. Up the Lauteret and then down the other side, the Lauteret is easy from Briancon and then up the short side of the Galibier and down the other side. Lunch in Valloire and back up the Galibier and roll home from the top back to Briancon.0

Why call the bike hire shop useless? Is it their responsibility to organise your trip?0 -

I'm not sure its 'easy' ! Maybes less difficult than from Saint Michel, but its still 28km cycling uphill in the sun, before you even turn onto the last steeper 8km up the Galibier!
Why don't you just cycle it via the Lautaret, maybes drop down the other side as far as the Pantani monument and Refuge and then back to Briancon? I did it a few years ago, it was a good day in the saddle with a drink at the summit and a couple at the Lautaret before the lovely descent back to Briancon.http://www.snookcycling.wordpress.com - Reports on Cingles du Mont Ventoux, Alpe D'Huez, Galibier, Izoard, Tourmalet, Paris-Roubaix Sportive & Tour of Flanders Sportive, Amstel Gold Xperience, Vosges, C2C, WOTR routes....0
