Is it my imagination or are top gear at it again. On Sundays programme the old Rolls Royce had a number plate of BRX522T. Pretty close to BREXIT. This plate must have been changed as they started that the car was a '76 and if I remember correctly T is from '79.

    Something is not correct then.
You cannot put a plate on that is newer than the car.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

    Well, it's not a 76 it seems.

Don't think there's much conspiracy there. Interesting to know why cars take so long to get to first registration though

It's a '76. Won't be out 'til next year. But I know some people that know some people that robbed some people

It is possible to put a newer plate on a car.I have a 70 build car that was reimported from the channel Islands and now wears a 72 plate - L. this was all done before I took possession of the car

You may want to get in touch with the DVLA.
"Where the personalised registration number has an age identifier (i.e. current style, prefix and suffix numbers see What style of registration number do you offer for sale?), you can only put that number onto a vehicle of equal age or newer. For example, if you purchase a 62 current style registration, it can only go onto a vehicle that was first registered as new on or after 1st September 2012. Please see the table below which shows the original issue dates of registration numbers."

Don't confuse build date of the car with date of first registration! Two very, very different things.
    Trail fun - Transition Bandit
Road - Wilier Izoard Centaur/Cube Agree C62 Disc
    Allround - Cotic Solaris

    Fair point, well made.
The average person (me, in this rare case) is ignorant of build date and doesn't care.
