If im trying to put a new cycle computer/camera/gps device on the market, would not being accessible to strava be a deal breaker? what about ant+ connectivity?

Strava is a website, not a connectivity standard. Or do you mean something different?

I mean does the data need to be able to sync with strava. Like being able to immediately export the ride information onto strava for people that are already tracking with strava or would they be ok with not using strava and using our own ride tracking webstie.

To gain any traction - it needs to be able to upload to Strava (and TrainingPeaks and maybe others) seamlessly and needs to have the ability to connect to other sensors - ANT+ is the most prevalent at this point in time, but Bluetooth Low Energy is also an option (perhaps it should ideally have both ANT+ & BTLE sensor capability - that's an unusual thing in the marketplace right now).

Either way you're up against it in that market (Garmin, Magellan/Mio, Polar, Lezyne,...) :)
