Garmin Edge 800 - turning itself on

Hi
My edge 800 has been behaving a bit strangely the past few days – it turns itself on, gets to the "garmin" screen, then the screen fades and it turns off again. It was doing this in a continuous loop this morning, until I actually turned it on properly with the power button, then turned it off again. It seems to work fine when I'm actually on the bike – it just doesn't work about a day after uploading an activity to the PC. I've tried googling, but it seems like everyone else only seems to have problems with the device turning itself off rather than on...
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
