Dear all,

I'm beginning a bike build but would like to clarify knowledge on bottom brackets. My frame is bb386evo standard but from what I have read I can use pf30 bottom brackets as well. I will also be going down the di2 route and realise I will need some sort of adaptor to use the shimano cranks as well as a press fit tool.

Can anyone confirm that my understanding is correct...and offer any recommendations on a bottom bracket?

Thanks

I can share some experience on BB30 and using Shimano Hollowtech II

I convert my BB with a wheels manufacturing shim set. The fit is great, I have ridden about 150 miles with this set up so very early days but no play or concerns yet.

They just push into you BB, so removal to service it all on a semi regular basis won't bother me.

Hope that helps, link to the shims:

I'd use one of these with a normal shimano hollowtech II bottom bracket:

Nice as the wheels mfg is, it will soon develop bearing clicking/notchyness in the same way that all BB30/PF30 bearing setups do (assuming you ride in the wet) - this way you can fir a nice shimano hassle free unit
