Does anyone have one of these? If so what are your thoughts? Are they the all road fun machine that Cannondale marketed it as or is it just a gimmick. Thinking of changing my bike towards the end of the year and I like the idea of the Slate. Also any suggestions on alternatives?? Thanks in advance

I'm a huge fan of the concept and keep bringing it up. But, you need to be clear about what you use your bike for. What is it replacing?

Spesh Diverge A1 - loads of issues since I bought it a year ago. Frame was replaced by specialized after 6 months due to a fault. They advertised it as having 35mm clearance for tyres and apparently that is only the higher end models so max is 32mm which means off road excursions are limited. I bought it as a commute bike that I could go off piste with at the weekends but it really hasn't been that great at all.

For that, I'd say, it fits the bill. But it's not cheap. Take it for a spin and chuck some better rubber on there if you buy it. (Reviews are critical of what's on there).

I reckon it will be a blast.

Yeah the cost was the only thing holding me back. The Diverge really hasn't impressed me at all. I will get saving and look at the Slate again towards the end of the year (if I can still get one!!) Thanks for your opinion

I seem to remember reading that there would be a few variations of the Slate coming from Cannonade later in the year - fixed forks, carbon frame etc... Seems like a great idea but the implementation could do with a few tweaks.
