Ever since I swung my leg over the top tube of my current road bike I knew I'd hanker for something better.

A trip to the local bike shop yesterday and...

I also managed to lay my hands on a few choice parts such as

This

This

And these

The big bit is in Europe somewhere and some other parts should be on their way from a mill not too far away from me.

Pics as we progress.

Am I the only one bothered by the fact that the tricolore is parallel to the lettering on one box and perpendicular on the other?
    Yes, definitely a disc.
  • FlâneurFlâneur Posts: 3,081
assumed it was due to space for getting as much tricolour as possible
    seat post and stem box?

You'd have thought a frame with specific axles would be supplied with said axles wouldn't you...

Yes. When I bought the forks for my MTB they came with the axle, hubs didn't so I'd have thought that was the norm. I'd query it.

.... and then locking myself in the garage with a bottle of wine and a tool box.

Is that all you managed? Hang the frame up and fit wheels-without-tyres?? :P

    Nice bike potentially!

Ran into some problems, I forgot to get some rim tape and I'm struggling with the brakes. I cannot find an adapter to fit. All I need is a 140 to 160 post to post. In effect a +20mm but nobody seems to make one.

FFS I spent all afternoon trawling for those, Will either version be good for the front and rear?

I've got a box full of the damned adaptors having tried fitting various combos of brakes to lotsa different forks... so I knew where to look.. lol

I think they should work fine - only niggle is whether the calliper fouls the bracket, but I've generally found that you can make them work with a couple of spacer washers if absolutely necessary.

Ignore the XTR bit... this one is for front forks.

This one's defined as a rear post-post one, to use a 20mm bigger rotor than the mounts are designed for.
