Hey everyone,
Unfortunately, the bottom bracket has started to go on my Raleigh Record Ace, but I'm not sure which BB it is (Completely different to my Campag Planet X Pro Carbon, unsurprisingly), and wondered if anyone can advice me what tools I need etc, and if they even sell bearings and cups for this type of BB anymore!
Thanks!

Plain old square taper. Probably easier to replace with a new one, there's plenty about.0

Yup, plain old square taper, of the non-cartridge type. These are serviceable, so if the bearing cups aren't worn you can fit new bearings, which are very easy to get.
You'll need these tools ....

Thanks for the info guys!0

Beware of some Raleigh the threads; they did use their own size threads on some bikes. Yours is most likely to be standard though.
For all things classic Raleigh Dave Marsh at Universal Cycles is your man for his encyclopaedic knowledge, and parts and renovations as well.0 -
In terms of tool recommendations - the Park pin spanner isn't really strong enough to deal with cups that haven't been removed in a while - better of with one like this: http://www.parktool.com/product/crank-a ... ench-hcw-4 you'll also need the other end to remove the fixed cup on the chainring side.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

But then again we don't want to talk you out of doing it the traditional way, which involves whichever hammer/large screwdriver combination you can find, and a pair of fine nosed pliers stretched to their maximum.0
