Waterproofing

Looking at getting some 5:10s and have seen reviews of them being sponge like around water and taking an age to dry. Has anyone tried something like Liquiproof on them to try and stop a large percentage of water/censored soaking them through?

I just put the sealskinz waterproof socks on, usually does the job!
