Hello,
I'm after some plusher tyres as i have found out through trial and error that the narrow harder tyres gives me very bad lower back ache (apart from old age),anyway has anyone any advice on tyre choice.

Thanks for looking.

Simply put, the biggest ones that fit your frame and forks - you can run bigger tyres at lower pressure without reducing the risk of impact punctures.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

What he said. A lot of people run far too high pressures.

I used to always run 120psi and never even give it a thought that it might be the cause of my bad back, but i bought a 29'hard tail and found an immediate improvement, then the penny dropped and realised the plushness was the answer, thinking back though i never suffered the back problem when on the rollers but that is the absolute perfect flat road.

I'm running thin 23c tyres, but being IRC roadlites i.e. tubeless, I can run at 80 front and 90 back. They give such a soft (springy or supple) ride that I sometimes have to look at the rear tyre to check if its deflated. Of course it hasn't...wider tyres are better still.

    What's the bike/wheelset?

A trek Domane might work but otherwise wider rims (Archetype?) with a good tyre in a 25 or 28mm width
