Nairo Quintana and Quentin Jauregui (AG2R) attacked and now have a 9 min lead!
It appears the move started as a 6-man breakaway (including Nairo Quintana) that became 3, then 2.0 -
Stages 1 and 2 are back to front! Should be ridden in the opposite direction.
Does Quintana realize there's a lot of downhill to the finish? Mind you 9 minutes is a lot!0 -
The gap is (unsurprisingly) coming down.

So we can take it that Quintana is in good form then...0
-
Euskadi rider Aritz Bagues has a gap of about 45 sec to the pack at 23km to go0
-
All together with 8 to go0
-
Bryan Coquard takes stage fairly easily0
-
-
Coquard wins the morning stage today. I think he's now won the last 4 sprint stages in the Route du Sud, over this and the last edition.
13 km ITT this afternoon, starting and finishing in Albi.0 -
Nairo indeed looking tasty in the ITT, albeit against a non-stellar field.Giant Trance X 2010

Victorious Nairo Quintana: I haven’t worked much on my time trialling
Date: 17th June 2016
Avg. speed winner: 51.048 km/u
"When I look at cycling today, I get the impression that history is repeating itself: riders who are supposed to be rouleurs are climbing passes at the front of the race, and those who are supposed to be climbers are riding time trials at more than 50 kilometres per hour." ~Christophe Bassons~
expect total annihilation at TdF. only a crash or a miss timed peak (to early) can prevent Quintana winning this years tour. he stepped up the training a lot this year.0 -

Its very boring and I really don't understand why Quintana is doing it, he has no quality opposition. The Dauphine was a real work out for the top lads, this one seems to be a stroll in the park in comparison and so close to the TdF?'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0

Bit odd, innit0 -
5 days long, short stages and only 1 mountain stage - fits with his minimal racing days approach I suppose.0

Worked fine last yearTeam My Man 2018: David gaudu, Pierre Latour, Romain Bardet, Thibaut pinot, Alexandre Geniez, Florian Senechal, Warren Barguil, Benoit Cosnefroy0

Maybe he wants to do his bit to fuel the build-up of expectations and suspense for The Big Clash0
-
He just wants a short race to get him back in to the swing of racing.0

The Froome v Contador v Porte hill stages are massive in proving fitness to each other, getting back into the rythmn of playing cat and mouse and out psyching each other. That's why we love cycling!'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0

They're on the Tourmalet now and it doesn't just rain in Switzerland.

All together and onto the final climb. Movistar are pretty strong here.
Hugh Carthy still in the leading group.0 -
The leading group is Marc Soler (Movistar), Nairo Quintana Rojas (Movistar), Nicolas EDET (Cofidis), Hugh CARTHY (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and Thomas VOECKLER (Direct Energie).0
