Hi guys,
I have read only praises about the old bein rockrider models.
I was about to jump on a 520, then realized the specs have changed.
Is this a downgrade for the 520, i.e. Should i search for the old model?
Also, any other comments about this or higher rockrider models much appreciated.
For me as beginner it is hard to compare the specs.
Thanks and cheers

Yes, the 520 has changed and is inferior to the old one - the new 540 is more a match to the old 520.0

Thanks. If I can find the old 520, is it better than the new 540?0

Almost identical, it seems! The old 520 has a very slightly better gearset, and is a touch heavier but that is about it. The new 540 is of course a 27.5 wheelsize.0

Otherwise, is the new 520 a decent beginner bike or not really?0

Compared to other bikes of the same price is good value. But I really would spend a little more as the jump to hydraulic forks and brakes makes a big difference. So I wouldn't recommend the 520 for serious off roading, only light trails with few bumps.0

What's your budget, can it stretch any further than the 540?Daddy, Husband, Designer, Biker, Gamer, Geek

Is have last years 740 and absolutely love it to pieces if that's any help!
Main difference is 26 not 27.5 wheels.... And a saving of over £4000 -

As a package it is heavy, a kilo more than a hardtail equivalent. But a lot of bike and a surprisingly good frame.0 -

That does look surprisingly good for the money!
I was going to suggest the Calibre Two.Two for £399.

Thanks for the Calibre suggestion. I like it but unfortunately i am not in the UK ? And i dont thi k they ship outside UK. Otherwise my budget stretches to 400, maybe a bit more if really worth it. Thanks for the suggestions, i am open for more.0
