Racing Three Freehub Issues

Since servicing the hubs on a Fulcrum Racing 3 wheelset I have noticed that the free hub is looser than it was and should be and that this is leading to an element of play in the cassette. Tightening the bearing collar non-drive side makes the rotation too rough and at the current setting there is no play in the axle. This leading to be believe that this part of the installation in is correct. When fitting the freehub the right/collar no longer passes all of the threads on axle and I think that this is the issue. Problem is that no matter what I do I can’t seem to get it to full pass the threads. Can anyone advise me??
