Front derailleur issue.

I have a Domane 2.3 on which I've recently replaced some parts to complete the 105 5800 groupset (the replaced parts have been used for a build project, so not waisted).

Since replacing the crank (original was Shimano RS500 I believe) the front gear change just doesn't seem as smooth as it should be, and I just can't seem to find a decent trim position on the big cog.

The derailleur is set 2mm above the chain wheel and I've checked the alignment with a ruler on the chainwheel turned through the arc of the mech (hope this makes sense).

Any ideas why the shifting should seem 'not as nice (!)' as before, or why I'm having difficulties setting the trim position?

Thanks in advance,
Steve

I'd go back to first principles and do a re-set-up of the FD.

This video is quite helpful as it describes the best approach to setting up the new "long throw" FD's (5800, 6800)

    Thanks Arlo,

Yep, that helped. I didn't know how critical the 0.5mm referred to was that Shimano specify... I didn't even know there was a specification! Also, apparently Shimano don't specify a lower trim (I know, we don't use small cassette/small chainring combo, but occasionally I slip up and do, and then quickly realise and change up!).

Into my gear and out for a test ride, and hope it's all OK (and I want to check out the new Charge Spoon as well!)

    Thanks again,
    Steve
