Help with planetx Exocet 2

I recently purchased an Exocet 2 frame second hand on ebay knowing it was missing the rear brake calliper clamp. Not however knowing that Planet X don’t sell this as a spare. I have tried several times to appeal to their good nature (have given them many thousands of pounds in business but this doesn’t seem to matter). They will not sell me a part and are unwilling / unable to provide me with even the most simple component dimensions so I can get one made.

I’m therefore at the mercy of the greater cycling community. If anyone out there has one of these frames and is willing to help, can you get in touch. All I need is a simple sketch or a few photos and a few key measurements (lengths widths, thicknesses, hole centre to centres and diameters etc). Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Liam

What is the rear brake caliper clamp ? Must be a funny frame ?
  • Unfortunately that link isn't much use. It only suggests to reuse the original part which I don't have.

The missing part is an L shaped piece of material that you bolt the brake calliper into. You then both the clamp to the frame with 2 small set screws. But as all I can see is the hole the clamp fills I can't be sure how much of it is load bearing material.and how muxh is carbon fibre cover.

Try contacting the US distributer of the bikes. It is a roundabout way, I will admit, but worth a try. They are mentioned on that thread.

Otherwise, try searching the 'your road bikes' part of the forum to see if anyone else has one? you could contact.
  • Thx for the suggestion, will repost on other forums. I am UK based and Px here have been as helpful as a kick in balls. I hope the US guys might be more accommodating.
