Clicking noise from front of bike

I have a really annoying clicking noise that seems to come from the front of the bike (I think). It's hard to track it down as it only happens when I'm sat in the saddle and going over reasonably rough ground. It is not rhythmical, seems rather random in timing.

Any ideas what it could be?

Can be brake pads rattling in the calliper, get that on my commuter as the retaining spring design on that calliper is poor.

Unfourtunately bike frames are great at conducting noise and it's not unusual to find that the source of a noise is nowhere near where you hear it coming from.
