I'm struggling to get a comfy set of bike shoes, I've tried the usual suspects but my ultimate problem is I've feet one shoe size delta and also wide. I'm thinking of going down the custom route but the prices seem to vary significantly and I don't really have any recommendations or reviews to draw on.

Any experience out there?

might be worth trying a specialist, maybe a combination of mouldable shoes and/or footbeds could do it (no idea if this is practical, i'm just speculating)

fwiw i had good experience here...

...they traced the cause of recurrent knee issue and resolved it (footbeds, wedges, shim)

footbeds and or something like Bont?
Maybe find a well stocked local shop who can measure your feet and do custom footbeds.

Bont + Shimano do wide versions of their shoes and I'm sure other brands do too.

the shimano r-sh 260 in a wide fitting together with the shimano heat mouldable in-soles are fantastic, they form a contour of your feet and remove any pressure or heat spots, i didnt need the shoe themselves to be moulded.
until i tried these, i d never found any shoe comfy for my pasty sized feet.
