Is bike weight important to you?

I am going to ride both bikes mentioned on Thursday or Sunday, so we will see which one feels better and then decide on which exact model of the one I choose after that
Have fun and I hope you like the one you choose
You were kind of asking two different questions.
The one in the thread title, and then again at the end of it were asking if we (other forum members) think weight is an important consideration, and this weight difference could be very different to the bikes you are choosing between.
Then the rest of your post is talking about two specific bikes that you are choosing between, which are probably pretty similar weights anyway.
To answer your original post correctly I would say that I feel weight is very important, but that you should probably not be to fussed about what the two you are looking at weigh.0 -
You don't half talk a load of bilge sometimes - do you ever read back what you write?0

You have issues and should get professional help/counseling.0

So I must be mentally ill, simply because I think you talk a lot of bollox. Is that really what you are saying? You clearly have a very high opinion of yourself.0 -

No, its because of what you rant about and how you do it.
People can decide for themselves which one of us is talking the most bollox and if either of us has a massive chip on our shoulder etc.
Mentally ill is a bit strong for a couple of sessions on a couch isn't it?0 -
I thought the arguing on here was usually reserved for the off-season when everyone was bored as they couldn't be out riding, seems I was wrong!
I think my road/race bike is probably 3-4kg heavier than some of the lightweight ones out there, last time I weighted it, it was just over 10kg with bottles, cages, spares bag and Garmin.
As it fits me I enjoy riding it more than I did my previous bike which was much lighter than the one I have now but was also slightly the wrong geometry for me (yes expensive mistake).
I think you are right that a light bike will be nicer/more fun to ride if it fits properly and is comfortable than the comparative heavier bike, but I wouldn’t look at 2 bikes with different geometries as the OP has and make a decision based on how much each bike weighs, the more pertinent question would be “which one fits?” then “which one rides better?” before asking“ which one is the lightest?”Obsessed is a word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated!0 -
its utterly dull, all this arguing stuff.
back on topic. I have 2 bikes, both of which fit properly. I now go faster despite having slightly heavier bars/stems / other bits because of positional adjustments. think one is just below 7kg and the other around 7.4 give or take. comfortable and aggressive isn't easy to achieve but on one I'm there and on the other I'm very nearly there ( they have very slightly different geometries).0 -
i have the defy advanced 2 which i would thoroughly recommend. Comfortable and stiff. The fact that it performs so well makes the weight irrelevant to me as ive ridden slower and felt less stable on lighter bikes. If i need to be lighter, ill go on a diet. more beneficial and cheaper. although i will upgrade wheels at a later date0
