Fork compatibility

The forks on my road bike are damaged and need replacing. They have a 1 inch steerer. I have some 1 1/8 inch forks, is there any way I can fit them to this bike. The only way I can think of is to replace the steerer on the new fork with a 1 inch steerer. Is this possible. I'm struggling to find new forks with a 1 inch threadless steerer at a reasonable price.

    No, you can't replace the steerer on a fork

    Like you, I struggle to find a cheap 1" fork. This is the best I can suggest:
