I usually use wall and brick to hold it. Any other ideas?

Anything will suffice out on the road.
An empty, clean, clear jar turned upside down without lid at home for photos.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

PS - Can I add that that is the best looking Cannondale that I have ever seen!

Bit of fishing line from saddle to overhead location (tree branch, street light etc), gives impression its defying gravity by standing without obvious support.
Rose Xeon CDX 3100, Ultegra Di2 disc (nice weather)
Ribble Gran Fondo, Campagnolo Centaur (winter bike)
    Van Raam 'O' Pair
Land Rover (really nasty weather  )

Have you ever shimmied up a lamp post just to attach fishing wire for bike pics??

Nope, just tied a small fishing weight on the end and lobbed it over. :P

Yep, not difficult at all, 5lb breaking strain line and a 1/4 oz ledger weight, easy peasy, just unroll some line and toss the weight up and over.

Quite why you would want to take a picture of a bike next to the side of the road in the first place and next to a lamp post. I would look for somewhere a bit more scenic myself.

Would not normally include the lamp post in the picture (or the tree for that matter), if I wanted those I'd just lean the bike against them.

You could hire a crane, tying the fishing line to the hook, conveniently out of shot in the picture.
That way you would have no need for throwing weights about, and could have your picture in the middle of a field, if you so desired.

There's a thread in commuting in which a guy suggests pedals with a fold out kick stand, I thought it was a ridiculous idea.

Could make for an interesting accidental deployment.
