Shimano Dura Ace / PF30 BB to 24mm rubbing

Hi - hoping somebody has had a similar issue or upgrade recently.

I recently upgraded my Focus Izalco Max 0.0 (which is designed with PF30 in mind) with a new dura ace di2 groupset. I purchased a Ceramicspeed PF30 Shimano Road BB (http://www.ceramicspeed.com/sport/produ ... -Road,-Red) to convert down from the PF 30mm to 24mm which the Shimano spindle requires.

I had the lbs install the BB and crankset - however, it appears that the inside of the non-drive side crank arm is rubbing the outer lip of the BB and making a metal rubbing noise. It's as if a need a small spacer between the crank arm and BB.

Has anybody else used the same BB converter? Should a small spacer / shim be used (it doesn't look like a spacer is used on the Shimano tech manual) I gave the drive side a decent nudge with the rubber mallet and the non-ds crank then had a small amount of movement (possibly suggesting it may not have been installed correctly?)

Pics at link https://goo.gl/photos/7uLqCNmCd4WveqBD8 - thanks for any suggestions.

i'd use one of these with a normal shimano bb instead:

  • Thanks dgunthor, i did see this and the Praxis version which also does a similar job but liked the look of the CeramicSpeed - would like to try and make the CeramicSpeed work before resorting to another.

All the dimensions / sizings appear to be correct, so something must be missing somewhere!

Good grief, just seen the price of it!
Could they have not sent an oik over to personally whack it in proper... but in all seriousness, if they are charging that much for an adapter, at least they can give you some installation instructions... or de installation instructions if you need a spacer somewhere.. sounds like the shop were as clueless as me.
  • I know what you're saying JGSI - awaiting there response to an email i sent yday. No instructions come with it - they provide installation vids on the website but i think they use a SRAM crankset in the vid which uses the wavey spring washer (very helpful!) for a Shimano converter.
  • Having taken the crankset apart last night, it appears that the clever people in the bike shop put both dust caps on the drive side, leaving nothing for the non-ds crank arm to sit against - pretty comical.

Problem resolved and everything fits well - never using that bike shop again!

    Thanks all

Sounds like a bike shop people would wish to avoid. Care to drop any hints about who / where they are??
