Praise the Lord.
Couldn't find it for the life of me. Oh well I'll just stick to this one now.
Perfect having someone so efficient on here to steer me in the right direction.
Again thank you

Whatever. Anyway, something tells me you are not being entirely honest, given that you edited the previous thread as recently as May 19th. But I'm sure you have your reasons...0

May I ask why you insist so much on this frame? Has it got some sentimental value?
I have something similar, a 1960s Claud Butler which now I would struggle to sell for more than 20 quid. Once built it did ride OK, but not the kind of bike I would want to cross the Andes or even just for a 100 miles ride. It was handy for my wife to enter the Anjou Velo Vintage in Saumur a couple of times and I have used it to cycle from Richmond to UCL in Central London once, which was good fun, but that's it...
Why do you want to build a track bike out of a non track frame? If I was to spend some money on that project, I would start with a track frame, otherwise I would try to build it as cheaply as possibleleft the forum March 20230 -

I don't really insist on it. It's just the frame I am building.
I really liked the look of it and how it's built. I also wanted a fixed wheel.
It will probably never see a track. And I'll probably just have it hung on my wall most of the time. I probably won't ever reach 100 miles on it.
It's something I wanted to do.
To me it looks amazing. I love the old steel frames. So much more craftsmanship then the s*#t bikes you get these days. All from a factory in Taiwan. Can't stand them myself. And don't get me started on carbon fibre. Great for people competing at top level but so unessecary for the everyday man going for a ride once a week in his lycra (again great for top level but what is wrong with shorts and a Tshirt. Why on earth people ride around with sky team all over them is beyond me)
So bascually I want to build something beautiful using High quality components on what I can gather is a high quality frame.
And I'm buying old as much as I can. I like recycling old stuff really.
I do intend to build a steel road bike for myself aswell so maybe I'll buy a track frame for that. Lol.
So to put it more bluntly.
I like it0 -
Surely if you want to create a vintage track bike you need the correct track end dropouts? I can't see that bike being allowed on a track whether you wanted to ride it on one or not and that not just down to the lack of track ends!ConanG1989 wrote:Why on earth people ride around with sky team all over them is beyond me)
Exactly the same reason that some people use anodised chainring bolts.....Faster than a tent.......0 -
My bad. The title was a bit misleading.
It's not really a track build. Just using some old track parts. I'll never take it to a track so don't have to worry about getting let in.
Oh and gold anodised bolts are so much prettier then guys in full Lycra. Lol0 -

To look good in lycra you need to be very lean... some people forget that detail... others, like me for instance, do look awesome in lycra 8)left the forum March 20230 -

Despite the effort and money you've invested in this, it's still going to look fucking terrible.0
