Commuter bike choice

Hi all

Considering buying a bank new bike for commuting in London

I know I want hydrolic disk breaks and a decent shimano groupset (with rapidfire) as I like gearing up / down at red light>
I am now down to a very few options
* Boardman team hybrid : http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/h ... -team-bike
* Boardman comp hybrid: http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/h ... -comp-bike
* BMC alpenchallenge: https://www.evanscycles.com/bmc-alpench ... e-EV237618

Also aware of the decathlon triban range

Really like the team hybrid. Latest and finest comp set and pretty light. Now I am getting worried with the carbon fibre fork there. I am not the most careful person. I know there will be a few bumps / dents especially if I store it in the communal bike storage of the block where I live. Reading around the forum and elsewhere I understand that carbon will not like being outside aggression and this can result in dramatic failure

Happy to hear your views on the bikes above (very limited public review on the BMC) and the carbon issue

Cheers

  • I've a Hybrid Team (2014 model) and have crashed a few times, plus had the usual bumps on the train or in the rack at work, etc. Carbon fork is fine.

    The Hybrid Comp is nice, the Hybrid Team is better though.
