Hi.
If i am getting a new crankset and 9 speed cassette is there a recommended ratio
with regard to the tooth configuration to both parts?
Not really sure how to word what i mean, but if i have say 11-32t cassette should the crankset
have a certain configuration to match the cassette?.

Just buy the same chain ring ratios to what you have now.
Think standard size for triple in 9spd is 22/32/440
